GUEST INTERVIEW | Adam & Anya from Peace Love Vegetables
I’m super excited to share with you this interview with Adam & Anya from Byron Bays Peace Love & Vegetables. These folks have an amazing line of fermented products and have recently opened a store in Byron Bay which looks amazing, with its standing work station and natural look to it offering organic foods, Chinese herbs, local foods, fermented goodness & specialty health products. Whenever I travel I make sure I pick up these guys ferments to keep me healthy and vibrant.
Your fermented products offer quite a unique spin on traditional fermented foods, what stands out to me is the first ingredient listed on your Krauts; Love Particles, could you please tell us a bit about this…
Great question and yes its the first ingredient because its the most important one. As much as we are fermenters we are into the science of energy. As science learns more we are finding out the importance of the space in-between matter and we are interested in filling that space with love. Here we have good vibe music 24/7, make sure there is absolute harmony and that everyone is having an awesome time getting their hands dirty with the kraut. We hope and do hear that people feel that when they get our products sometimes even just holding the jar so I guess if we took it out it would not be the same thing. We also love the flower of life.
Other unique ingredients include, Purple corn extract, Gynostemma Tea, Turmeric, E3Live Blue Green Algae and Gotu Kola just to name a few, could you tell us where the inspiration came from to incorporate these amazing ingredients
Okay you caught us out, yep we are health geeks and it sounds like you are too. We really want to push our products into new arenas of health and because we have the knowledge we feel obliged to. You have picked out some of the premier ingredients we use that we love that are not so necessarily known. It just clicked for us one day that the Sauerkraut we were making could be SuperKraut if we added superfoods and herbs in. We believe if your putting something in your mouth why not make it the best most nutrient thing possible while most importantly making it taste good.
I’m sure you have had so much feedback from people who have had health revelations since incorporating your products into their diet, could you share with us some stories
We had a lady who was trying to get pregnant for years and after drinking our Wild Thing AKA Coconut Kefir she fell pregnant. We had a lady that was virtually wheel chair bound for 15 years and she said it was our products that got her walking again. A bunch of people with arthritis. Many many with digestive and immune system issues.Everyday we hear from happy customers which is the best thing ever.
Aside from the amazing line of fermented products you have on the market are there any other ferments that you guys do at home on a routine basis that you really enjoy
We are always playing. Routinely nothing but here is a list of things we alternate between. Fermented coconut yogurt, Fermented salsa, Milk Kefir, Jerky, I have this awesome Chinese herbs tonic I drink daily that other people around me are addicted to, Kombucha, Chocolate, fermented guacamole to name a few.
If you were Captain Cook setting off on exploration expedition what ferment would you have chosen to take on board the ship and why
Haha you’re a classic mate ;-) I love our Kimchi and I would make it extra hot. I would eat it with fish we caught on the way. I think I would choose it because I would not get sick of it, I would probably be eating a lot. The turmeric and cayenne, ginger, garlic would be awesome for my immune system and help with any inflammation. It also keeps really well unrefrigerated because of these same properties. It would also stimulate my digestive system, get my blood flowing and make me feel awesome.
